As you probably know, each state is governed by its own set of laws. This is particularly important to remember if you have recently relocated to another state, or if you spend time in multiple states. Well-meaning individuals often spread wrong or misleading information by over-generalizing “the Law.” Do not rely on anyone’s knowledge or experience from another State. This is particularly true with estate planning and real estate law in Florida. Conveying title to real property in Florida is complicated, even if its “just to your children.” A “simple will” can have implications you did not anticipate if not drafted correctly. Cleaning out a deceased person’s home without following the legal process can cause unnecessary delay and expense in estate administration. Speak with an attorney if you have questions about estate planning or real estate law, especially here in Florida.
