A living will is a document in which you decide and direct the circumstances under which physicians can administer life-prolonging procedures in the event you are in a terminal or end-stage condition. The living will does not have any effect if you are still capable of making your own decisions. Your living will is a legal document, and as such is required to be adhered to by medical professionals. There are many misconceptions regarding the purpose and contents of a living will.
